The dashboard
The Overview is the first screen after you open the app. Everything on it is read from the local database on your device, so it loads instantly with or without a signal.
Apiaries
An apiary is a place where you keep bees: your garden, an allotment, a rooftop, a rented field, a stand at the edge of a forest. In Openbeehive the apiary is the top of your records; everything else hangs beneath it.
Hives
A hive in Openbeehive is a single colony in a physical box. Almost everything you log day to day (visits, harvests, treatments) hangs off a hive. Each hive belongs to one apiary at a time and can have a queen. Works offline; see Offline and sync.
Queens
Openbeehive records who the queen is, where she came from, how she is marked, and when her reign began and ended. Every queen stays in the record, so each hive builds a history of its stock over the seasons.
Inspections (visits)
An inspection is the record of a single visit to a hive: what you saw, what you did, and anything worth remembering. Over a season the visits build into a picture of how each colony is developing. Works offline; see Offline & sync.
Tasks
Beekeeping is full of small jobs that are easy to forget a title and an optional due date. Works offline; see Offline and sync.
Harvests & honey
Record each harvest so that come winter you can see which hives earned their keep and trace every batch back to its source.
Treatments
A treatment record is the story of how you cared for a colony's health: what you applied, when, how much, and when the hive was safe again. Openbeehive keeps these records tidy and audit-ready, so that whether you are managing two hives in a garden or two hundred across several apiaries, you always have a clear, defensible history.
QR labels
A QR label turns a hive into a one-tap shortcut. Stick a label on the roof or brood box, point your phone at it, and Openbeehive opens at that hive's record. No scrolling through lists in the apiary, no squinting at hand-written numbers in the rain.
Offline & sync
Openbeehive is built for the apiary, not the office. Out in the field you rarely have a reliable signal, so the app is offline-first: everything you do is saved on your device straight away and synced to the server later, in the background.
Installing the app
Openbeehive is a Progressive Web App (PWA). That means you do not need an app
Import & export
Your records are yours. Openbeehive lets you take all of your data with you —
Accounts & tenants
How you sign in depends on how the instance is set up. A solo self-hosted instance may need no login at all; a shared instance (like the hosted service) gives everyone an account and organises apiaries into tenants you can switch between.
